SERMON: INTO THE WILDERNESS-“Tested to be Triumphant”

I. MAIN SERMON NOTES
WHY WAS JESUS SENT INTO THE WILDERNESS?
- pray and fast for 40 days and nights
- to be tempted by the devil / to be tested by God to rely, trust, and obey which has Jesus enduring in God’s power
- to be proven as the sinless perfect Lamb of God to represent humanity
- become our example and presence of help when in spiritual warfare
TEMPTATIONS FROM THE DEVIL or dark influences of the world
- half-truths covered with deceptive lies & consequences
- lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, pride of life
HOW TO BATTLE AGAINST TEMPTATIONS
- be reminded of God’s love (protects from doubt)
- turn to God’s Word for truths, promises, assurances
- remove access points of temptation (leave the room, turn off the computer, etc.)
- continue drawing close to God in praise and prayer for strength, power, wisdom (don’t entertain the temptations -
resist the ways of the devil and he will flee)
II. APPLICATION: P.R.A.Y. (Have a Conversation with God)
P. Pause to WORSHIP God (“Heavenly Father I praise you and thank you for….”)
R. Reflect on the WORD/MESSAGE of God (“What are you teaching me?”)
A. Ask in the WISDOM of God (“How may I apply your Word/Message in my life?”)
Y. Yield into the WAYS of God (“What next step are you asking me to take?”)
